SCprops brings the character of handmade craft to artificial food and decorative props. Our collection includes cakes, cupcakes, cheeses, breads and bespoke creations, each made with care and attention to detail.

Our pieces are created for commercial displays and private interiors. Whether selected from our online collection or commissioned individually, they reflect a love of making and the distinctive qualities of work shaped by hand.

The business began during the COVID pandemic as a creative activity with Michelle’s partner and their two children.

Our creative studio is based in Essex, UK. It is home to a growing collection of artificial food props, including cakes and cupcakes, with selected pieces available through our online shop.

The garden, birdsong and view of the pond bring a peaceful atmosphere to the studio and provide inspiration during the creative process.

From this peaceful setting, we create decorative food props for homes and commercial spaces across the UK and internationally. Cakes, cupcakes, breads and cheeses remain central to our collections, combining colour, texture and individual character.

Every piece is crafted individually. Subtle variations in shape, colour and finish give each creation its own character and form part of the SCprops style.

The art lies in making each item separately, with attention to the details that make an artificial food display convincing and memorable.

Michelle, known as Caroline, is the main artisan behind SCprops. Her eye for detail and individual approach shape the character of the work. Each creation reflects the time and care involved in turning an idea into a finished decorative piece.

The initials SC stand for Sweet Caroline, inspired by Michelle’s fondness for the Neil Diamond song and the nickname Caroline.

Our artificial food props are modelled using traditional craft methods. Each piece is made, painted and decorated by hand, with careful attention to the colours, shapes and textures of the food that inspires it.

We source materials and decorative components from suppliers in the UK and, where needed, overseas to bring our designs to life. Some pieces are completed from start to finish by a single artisan. Larger creations can take up to a week to complete, depending on their size and complexity. This describes the making process, not a promised dispatch time.
